I wanted to be a PhD in Literature (to experience reaching into the deep waters of human history and to share this experience with others!) but the 21st century had other plans: autonomous weapons, looming AI singularity, scholasticide, bottomless money for genocide and none for the development of the individual, the seeming death of all good things. But I don’t believe them that the humanities are dead, and that outsourced cognition is the only way, and that weapons are the answer, and that we have no past.
